Bridge Deck Replacement 3 Bridges

The project consisted of the demolition and reconstruction of three reinforced concrete bridges supported by structural steel beams over I 95 in Sharon, Ma. New reinforced concrete decks, barrier and wing walls, abutment caps, end walls and approach slabs were constructed. In addition to the removal and replacement of the reinforced concrete, the steel superstructure was completely de-leaded, repaired and strengthened, and finally painted. The contract also required the installation of temporary concrete barriers, signage, advanced warning devices, pavement markings and daily lane closings to facilitate on-going traffic during construction on both Route 1 and I 95 North & South bound. The highway work included clearing & grubbing, grading, surface drainage, granite curbing, highway guardrail and fencing cold planing and paving at the adjoining bridge approaches and all other incidental work surrounding the bridges.

The project was completed over a three year period one lane at a time in order to facilitate full three lane traffic from Route 1 North to I95 North during the New England Patriots Football season.
